Tip No.4 – Safe Mode – Where are you my long lost friend?

Tip No.4 – Safe Mode – Where are you my long lost friend?

Getting into Windows Safe mode using F8 or Shift+F8 is a thing of the past with Windows 10. Shame.

You have to boot to Windows first then either restart holding Shift key or via an option within Update & Security in Settings. Both very helpful is the PC is not booting to Windows! Not.

Ok, there is a way around this. Take it slowly (and your own risk)

Go to an elevated Command Prompt (admin)

Type bcdedit /copy {current} /d “Windows 10 Safe Mode”

Press Enter

Close Command Prompt

Next

Windows key followed by System Configuration.

Boot tab

Highlight the Windows 10 Safe Mode you just created, tick Safe boot and select Minimal un the Boot Options. Reduce timeout to 5 seconds.

Tick Make all boot settings permanent. Click ok.

You will then have different boot options upon start up. You could create further ones with e.g. Networking, etc. using different options in the System Configuration.
