Hundreds of millions of email log ins have been leaked by online hackers for anyone to download.
They have access to 2.6 billion records, 773 million email addresses and 21 million passwords. They have been leaked on a “popular hacking forum” for anyone to use. The hackers may try what is called “credential stuffing” which is where they attempt to enter the details they have found in to multiple platforms and see if any of them work, which is why it is vital to try to use different passwords for every online platform you use.
So far there have been no leaks of other details such as finances or bank details in the database.
It is being considered as one of the largest breaches of personnel online data in history. Although not as huge as the 3 billion account breach on Yahoo back in 2013, it could still prove to be harmful to many of the users who’s information has been leaked.
