It used to be thought that Macs were far more secure than Windows PC’s. Well this is a myth. Malware for iMacs has now leapfrogged its Windows counter parts. According to data from Malwarebytes, the company detected that whilst Windows was detecting 5.8 threats per Windows endpoint in 2019, Macs were almost DOUBLE this average with around 11 threats per Mac.
A 400% increase year-on-year since the start of 2018 as seen malware for Macs skyrocket. The popularity of them has been a big factor into this as the ore people that use them, the more they will be a desirable target for hackers.
“It is imperative that, as an industry, we continue to raise the bar in defending against these sophisticated attacks, actively protecting both users and businesses by flagging and blocking all programs that may violate their privacy, infect their devices, or even turn the infrastructure they depend on against them,” says Marcin Kleczynsk, CEO at Malwarebytes.
