Teams is receiving a few new features; Microsoft have revealed recently that they are set to appeal to “firstline workers” in industries where working at a fast pace is imperative, as is efficient communication.
They are set to introduce a full new suite of tools that will include shared device sign-out, off-shift access and an in-app walkie-talkie. This has been seen by Microsoft as a gap in the market that needs to be filled. The SMS sign-in tool will allow workers to use an SMS authentication code obtained by entering their phone number, to access Teams. This is targeted at companies with high staff turnover.
The most conspicuous new feature has to be the walkie-talkie tool. No longer will there be a need for companies to purchase additional equipment such as radios with workers being able to use Teams for this now so long as they have WiFi or mobile data.
While there are no set dates for the release of these features, Microsoft are aiming to have the first lot of features released by March and the rest by June 2020.
